Dave Topping and Rob Haller shot aerial video production and still photography for a full day in Pekin Illinois.  We utilized the Inspire Drone with 4K video camera resolution and 12 MP still images.  And no, those clouds appearing as smoke from the stack were captured in real time and not added later.  Sometimes a lucky photographer is the best to hire, LOL.

MC Industrial Performing Plant Upgrades for NRG’s Largest Power Plant in Illinois

MC Industrial, Inc. has been selected by NRG, a Fortune 250 utility leader, for environmental upgrades at the Powerton Generating Station in Pekin, IL, a 1536 MW plant with the capacity to power more than 1.2 million average homes. The plant upgrades are a part of NRG’s  investment to modernize its Illinois coal fleet and dramatically reduce emissions.

Along with the AQCS retrofit, the second upgrade involves an Ash Handling and Precipitator Installation project. With the goal of meeting an aggressive outage window, MC Industrial is performing a prefabricated modules ground strategy utilizing a 2,500-ton crane to support the installation.

Drone Aerial Video Production for Live Events

We have safely documented hundreds of live events!   St Louis Drones is a Video Production and Photography company. We are a small firm that has been in the photography and video business since 1982. In the past we’ve shot traditional aerials, but over the past two years we have logged many thousands of hours with our aerial drones.
We have our 333 exemption from the FAA as Safe-To-Fly. We adhere to all FAA guidelines. For safety and quality, we shoot with a two-man crew, and we are fully insured. Our pilot always keeps visual contact with the drone, while our navigator guides and directs the shot.
The Inspire has a curved lens design which eliminates distortion, and the 20mm focal length opens up your shots to a remarkably wide angle without that fish-eye look. The camera shoots video at 4K, 4096 x 2150 High Definition.

St Louis Drones Residential Real Estate Marketing

An aerial view provides so much when it comes to persuading a potential buyer to a property.  When the buyer can see the entire property as well as the surrounding landscape and environment around the property, they can get a much better idea of the area as a whole.

Still shots just do not provide this information because of their limited scope.  A still shot might show you a particular feature of a property, but it cannot provide context in terms of where that picture is situated on the property and how the abundance of features around the property look together.  Take the example of a pool.  If a pool is on a property, it is often displayed on current real estate sites in the form of a still shot of some water.  What the viewer doesn’t see from that photo is the size of the pool, the features around it, where it is situated on the property, and how it is woven with the rest of the landscape.

With an aerial video, questions like those posed above can be answered in a visual way.  Now, the viewer, wondering if he can see the pool from his back patio, can see the answer in the video.

Drone Building Inspections St Louis

We started flying the Inspire for a recent project and soon discovered the GPS was lacking in this particular area of tall buildings.  So we decided to go back to our first flying tool the Phantom and pulled the GoPro camera and modified it with an extension to view the outer perimeter of the building area.  The goal was to find the source of a few well hidden leaks.  In addition the tuck pointing on this building was recently completed so the new leaks were a surprise to all involved.

The first image is the jpeg from the raw shot which we enlarged quite a bit.

The second photograph with the red arrow, pinpoints the particular leaks.

All in all the project was a success, the building management team was quite pleased with the quick and economical findings.

Our flying camera platforms give the Director or Director of Photography stunning shots only dreamed of previously.

We love what we do. To us, this is not a job but a passion for capturing awe inspiring imagery.

We have multiple camera platforms that can carry cameras as small as a GoPro ™ and as big as a twin Red Epic’s (aerial 3D cinema rig).

We keep our promises and deliver the highest quality aerial on time, every time.

We have a perfect safety record that shows our commitment to safe flight practices and craft maintenance.

News Report Fox 2 Mandy Murphy St Louis Drones | Commercial Video Production Company

Here is a report on our creative crew members from Fox 2 News Mandy Murphy

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The FAA last week decided to allow commercial use of drones under strict guidelines. The decision has been in the works since 2005 and still needs final approval. Current rules for drones are to fly for recreation. If commercial you need a pilot’s license. The new FAA rules allow for drones under 55 pounds, you must fly below 500 feet, further than 5 miles from an airport and not directly overhead of people. You must maintain constant visual line of site with the drone.

Haller Concepts of South County is already using drones from commercial photography and video. Safety is the most important aspect for Haller. They always use a two-man crew. One person operates the drone and keeps constant line of sight while the other watches the shot and directs the operator. Haller and many others like them will get their certificate of authorization.

Technology is far outpacing government rules. Law enforcement across the country are interested in using drones. St. Louis Police have asked for permission from the FAA. Groups like drone free St. Louis are opposed to police drones. They want strict privacy rules from the government.

Right now, the new ruling does not allow for companies like Amazon to begin delivering packages using a GPS drone. Line of sight is still required. It may take a year or two for the new FAA rules to be fully implemented.
